Letter to Charlie Crist

Below is a copy of the letter mailed to Charlie Crist this morning (Governor of FL)

FROM THE DESK OF MICHAEL REYNOLDS:



Dear Governor Crist,

Recently while on vacation in Denver Colorado I was watching television with a friend in our moderately priced hotel room (an Adam’s Mark). Now mind you, this place was no Ritz Carlton (but it was no Howard Johnson, either). As we eagerly watched Swordfish starring John Travolta, we began to notice that the television’s volume would slowly creep up during the commercial breaks. With the television remote safely stowed on the bedside table, we were baffled as to how this had occurred. Although subtle at first, the television’s volume eventually rose to near ear-piercing levels with several volume-raising commercial breaks tucked under the television’s proverbial belt. A less magnanimous man may have cracked.
This short anecdote brings me to the heart of this message, Governor Crist. What can we do to ensure that this travesty does not take place in the great state of Florida? Are we to allow out of state visitors to recklessly watch hotel televisions whose volumes are dangerously out of control? Do we want to project an image of a state that offers wildly unregulated commercial sonority in our local inns? Is nothing sacred?
I believe that one man can make a difference. As the state elected officiator of change, I believe that that responsibility lies on your very capable shoulders, Governor Crist. While I am not sure of the most efficient means of dealing with this issue, I imagine a task force may be in order. If necessary, I would be more than eager to head up any kind of organization dealing with this affair. Thank you.
